Welcome to The home of The Airbus A300F Simulator and World Flight Scotland

The simulator is operated by enthusiasts in support of the ORBIS flying eye hospital. Created from real aircraft parts and with the support of a number of aviation companies, our aim is to provide a fun environment where people of all ages can come and experience what it would be like to fly an Airbus A300 Freighter while supporting a worth while cause.

The Flying Eye Hospital visits Scotland15th may 2009

On a cold May morning at 0630hrs N220AU callsign ORBIS 1, touched down in Scotland for the first time. After taxing to stand 6 the crew were surprised to find that the member of the ground crew was a member of the A300F simulator team and wearing his A300F World Flight crew sweatshirt with the supporting ORBIS logo. The aircraft stopped for fuel on route to Deir Ezzor in Syria, where the team will conduct their sight saving training and surgery. Our thanks to the crew and medical staff onboard for giving Jim a tour of the aircraft while he tried to explain the idea behind World Flight and how all the simulators around the World support their chosen charities.

How does ORBIS work

ORBIS works with its local partners to establish comprehensive, affordable and sustainable eye care in developing countries. ORBIS provides training opportunities through its Flying Eye Hospital, hospital-based programs and fellowships, and Cyber-Sight® — a unique telemedicine program offering online consultation and education.
