Welcome to the Home of the Airbus A300F Simulator

The simulator is operated by enthusiasts in support of the ORBIS flying eye hospital. Created from real aircraft parts and with the support of a number of aviation companies, our aim is to provide a fun environment where people of all ages can come and experience what it would be like to fly an Airbus A300 Freighter while supporting a worth while cause.

In 2003 and the opportunity came up to purchase a A300B4-200 procedural sim, this was the beginning of the A300 sim. Having previously helped friends create generic aircraft simulators for training, when we were give the chance to purchase the A300B4 procedural sim it was an offer too good to refuse. A trip to Stansted followed and within 2 days we were home with our purchase and the beginning of our sim building. The procedural sim was used to get ideas on how to create and develop a full sized aircraft cockpit that we could operate. Testing began with multi monitor displays and various hardware items to see what would be the most practical and affordable options for the simulator, while trying to create the feel and shape of the A300.

During my hunt for aircraft seats I came across Air Salvage International at Alford not only did they have A300 flight deck seats but they were in the process on breaking and Indian Airways A300b4-200 .Tim Fairchild made arrangements for us to have two days access to the aircraft before it was scrapped and allow to remove the remain parts from the cockpit that could be of any use. It was an incredible experience and without the help of all the people at ASI a lot of what was achieved would simply not have been possible, from the onsite engineers to the boss Mark everyone was was extremely helpful. It would have been nice to have had the cockpit section removed but with space being at a premium at my home it was never going to work.
